Tubelord – Tezcatlipōca

Alternative rock band Tubelord have stunned me again with their latest EP Tezcatlipōca. Named after a deity in Aztec religion it offers a nice blend of soothing vocals from Joseph Prendergast, guitars and the introduction of trumpets as seems to be popular with the whole Mumford Marling and the Whale possy. Arbor is a more chilled number whilst Bazel contains some meaty guitar riffs and according to the band “performed using variations of the major diatonic and blues scales being stirred through with lots of mixo-lydian modes” – what jokers.

Despite not being released yet the EP can be heard here with a free download of the song Ratchet which seems to have certain reminiscences of The Knife.

Tezcatlipōca will be released on August 16th
