A Midsummer Night’s Dream
American High School Theatre Festival
Stripping Shakespeare down to its fundamental roots, this American high school have managed to create an excellent rendition of ‘The Dream’ that focuses on quality acting rather than attempting to create a modern interpretation, as theatre companies often do at the festival, with mixed results. It is obvious that many hours work have gone in to this: it is executed with such precision, and has quite evidently been carefully directed and choreographed. Its only downfall was in its songs which although well sung became a little cloying. The American High School Theatre Festival has produced a very impressive production, given the age of its cast.
